What’s going on in your world? Do you have a plan for the week in your world?  I do. In mine I’m diligently working away on my new collection.  It’s a little sculptural, a little deco, and a little mid-century modern.  I am absolutely loving the clean yet bold lines of the design!  The new collection will have earrings and pendants in 2 different sizes. Color makes me smile.   I love strong color combinations.  One of my favorites?  Purple and orange.  Yep, purple and orange.  Give me a color combination that reaches up, smacks you in the face and says hello?  I’m in love.  And it makes me smile.  Anything that makes me smile I consider self-care.  I can always use something to smile about! I love this part of the creative process…   It’s the time when I take all the little parts I’ve created and put them together.  Select the different gemstones that I’ll use.  See what is working and what needs tweeking.  Not to mention a lot of times I come up with other ideas that turn into future collections. I've been working on some new things in the shop.  I'm so excited to release these at the end of the month!  It's going to be a smaller selection of earrings and necklaces. When I graduated from college my father was pretty unhappy that I wasn’t planning on grad school.  I knew with a graduate degree in art about all I could do was teach and if I did that the body count would be insane.   So instead of finding out if orange was my new black I opted for practical experience.  I spent quite a long time working in jewelry stores as the jeweler/appraiser.  That path took a long time, but I’m so glad I did, it gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in my craft, a process that continues...

If I have to hear “2020 didn’t go according to plan” I think I might scream.  May I just say…”No shit, Sherlock!”  Of course, with a business to run things rarely go “to plan.”  Designs don’t want to cooperate, castings go ka-flewy, stones break.  Throw 2 kids and virtual school in the mix, and holy crap.  At this point I count the day a success if ¼ of the work on my to-do list gets done, school work is reasonably close done and everyone gets fed.  Happen to get a bonus thing done like fold the laundry and woo-hoo I’m...
