Turquoise Earrings and Gourds Gone Wild
So apparently I'm rather partial to posting within a theme for the week. Last week was rings on my hand & this week is gourds! What else would I do, but take pictures?! Just thought I'd take a moment and highlight some of my favorite pieces. I've already talked about how much this necklace is growing on me & how the "Ant Hill" garnet in the center of this ring got it's name. A Great Turquoise Ring for Fall...

Angry Ants Made This Ring Possible!
OK, so maybe not this exact ring... The garnet in the center of this ring is an "Ant Hill" garnet. So named because this particular color of garnet was discovered at the base of ant hills. While digging their colonies the ants were removing 'rocks" and leaving them at the base of the ant hills. Those "rocks" were actually garnet crystals. "Ant Hill" garnets are typically a rich vibrant red that is just amazing. Just another example (for my first example see this post) of what an irritated animal can do! Thank you, ants! Nikki P.S.
