OK, so maybe not this exact ring...
The garnet in the center of this ring is an "Ant Hill" garnet. So named because this particular color of garnet was discovered at the base of ant hills.
While digging their colonies the ants were removing 'rocks" and leaving them at the base of the ant hills. Those "rocks" were actually garnet crystals.
"Ant Hill" garnets are typically a rich vibrant red that is just amazing. Just another example (for my first example see this post) of what an irritated animal can do!
