Did you know that moonstone is one of June’s birthstones?  Did you know that June has all the best birthstones.  Ok, September and January are close seconds. It’s June!  I’m so excited!! Pearls happen to be one of my all time favorite gems.  (In case you’re curious, my other 2 favorites are sapphire and garnet, but that’s a topic for another time.)   Why is it my favorite?   Because they are organic gems created by a living organism.  This creates a staggering amount of variety.  The type of mollusk or oyster, the type of water, the temperature of the water, the nutrients available all come together to create something beautiful and one of a kind.
