Have you seen these earrings?

If you asked me about my artistic influences I would definitely tell you Art Nouveau.  I love the sweeping curves, the concept of stressing handmade over mass produced, the architecture... so many parts of it.  But I can't deny there is also a little hint of mid-century modern.  Especially when it comes to furniture.  I know, it doesn't really make sense, but we all have a dichotomy in us.  It's what makes us human, and this is just one example of mine.  

When I look at my Straight Line Collection I have to admit it makes me think of this.  These earrings in particular put me the most in mind of that mid-mod feel.  Not sure why.  I think it's the white agate briolettes next to the bold vibrant purple of the amethyst.
